The Big Park at Winchmore Hill will once again host the ‘family friendly’ music festival PennFest on July 22-23.
Here’s your GetBucks guide to what’s going down:
There’s a real 90s vibe this year. Friday’s headline act is Ocean Colour Scene, meanwhile popular bands like Reef, De La Soul, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Ms Dynamite and Shed Seven will be joining them on stage. Ash, The Lightning Seeds and Black Grape will be rocking out on the main stage on Saturday.
There really is something for everyone as Dizzee Rascal and Rizzle kicks will be performing on the same stage as Chas & Dave.
Ticket prices vary. You can take your child along (3-12) for just £11 but a VIP ticket will set you back £132. Oh and there’s even an option for ‘Posh Toilets’ which will set you back another £15 but will enable you to access a separate enclosure in the main area with regular attendants.
The Chilterns site has a special, quieter family camp site and there’s a special ‘Play Penn’ for the kids, with arts and craft workshops along with
circus workshops and street entertainers.
If your tastes are a little more adult, there are plenty of bars in the main arena. Campers will also be allowed to bring in alcohol to the campsite. There will be food on offer from all over the world. There will also be creative workshops and a global artisan market.
The DJ tent will be well stocked featuring Artful Dodger and DJ Luck & MC Neat among the guest DJs promising to carry on the party ‘til late. The main stage will also have plenty of upcoming local talent on offer to go alongside the stars.
Tickets can still be purchased online or from Ricki’s News, Beaconsfield Old Town or Kingsride Supermarket, Tylers Green.
