DRIFTERS clinched the promotion they have promised all season - but only after a nerve-shredding display.

The Farnham Common side, whose serene progress to the title has faltered slightly in recent weeks, have struggled to finish off some matches since the loss of influential centre Rorie Hannigan.

But their elevation to Southern Counties North has been secured with two games to go, and with a side with an average age of only 23. Only a mathematical disaster will stop them from being crowned champions.
