Marlow 23 Beaconsfield 14
Beaconsfield RFC'S recent winning streak came to an end with a 23-14 derby defeat at Marlow on Saturday.
The hosts opened up a 10-point lead through a penalty and a try before Druju Labri took the ball into Marlow's 22 but was eventually tackled. From the line out, Beaconsfield got to within five metres and kept Marlow pinned down, but were not able to score.
What followed was a succession of penalties, with Beaconsfield bagging one either side of half time to pull it back to 10-6, before Marlow slotted one over, and then Beaconsfield again to keep them in touch at 13-9.
But the hammer blow came with Marlow's next try, when their outside centre was missed going under the posts for 20-9, and soon after they stretched the lead further with a final penalty to take the game beyond Beaconsfield.
The visitors did pull a try of their own back late on to make it 23-14, and while it was not enough, it was still a good performance from Beaconsfield, and the game was probably lost in the set pieces. They slipped to
seventh position in Southern Counties North.
