RECENTLY-crowned Bucks champions Amersham & Chiltern, played some their best rugby of the season to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.

Roared on by a large crowd, augmented by 140 diners who attended at the annual President’s Lunch beforehand, Chiltern ran in seven tries to beat Weston-Super-Mare 51-13.

DRIFTERS lost their unbeaten Berks, Bucks and Oxon league record in a stop-start game that saw three ambulances called for three separate injuries to home players as they lost 25-20 at Swindon College.

BEACONSFIELD are on the threshold of promotion to level six for the first time in the club's history after Saturday's win at Aylesbury in the Southern Counties North.

Victory, or even a draw, against Wallingford in their penultimate fixture at the weekend would complete a perfect season for the men from Oak Lodge Meadow.

They have a 10-point lead over nearest rivals, Milton Keynes, who defeated third placed Windsor. Top place would elevate Beaconsfield to the South West One Division, alongside teams like Marlow and High Wycombe.
