LUKASZ Janisiewicz won all his sets for reigning First Division champions Denham Village A in the Chalfonts and District Table Tennis League – but it was still only good enough for a draw against Chalfont Alpha.

Jimmy Welch did well to beat the new junior find Adam Reed 11-8 in the fifth set to give Alpha a very creditable 5-5 draw.

Rickmansworth A were well beaten at home, 8-2 by Higher Denham, with John Taylor and Rad Zivkovic winning three sets apiece.

Last year’s Second Division runners-up, Denham Village D, managed to squeeze a 6-4 win at Chalfont Gamma – Stefan König getting back to winning ways by keeping a clean sheet.

Village C had a comfortable 7-3 win against Chalfont Epsilon, with Christina Lane registering her first two wins.

CSP Academy notched up their third draw in a row, this time against Rickmansworth C – Alex Nagle winning all his sets.

In the Third Division, Denham Village E could only field two players – one of whom was a young Rosalind Lane – and unsurprisingly went down 8-2 to Chalfont Kappa. Ickenham had a convincing 7-3 win at Village F, with newcomer Ron Bryant maintaining his 100 per cent record.

Brenda Cranfield-Thompson won the only set for Denham Village H against Village G in her very first outing in the league.
