Chiltern Harriers clock up PBs

A SERIES of personal bests were set by Chiltern Harriers’ middle distance runners at the most recent Watford open evening.

A SERIES of personal bests were set by Chiltern Harriers’ middle distance runners at the most recent Watford open evening.

In the 3,000m, senior Matt Bennett set a PB of eight minutes 43.2 seconds and there was further success in the 1,500m races, with U17 George Gillingwater setting a PB of 4:16.70 and fellow U17 Jack Walker clocking 4:23.73.

The U15s also had a good evening, with Joe Aherne setting a new best of 4:34.77 in winning his race.

Liam MacDonald ran 4:52.47, Sam Butcher 4:57.73 and Connie Lewis set a new best of 4:54.76.

Senior Julius Fawcett won in 4:48.27, while U13 Angus Denison- Smith dipped under five minutes for the first time with a new PB of 4:59.67 and Hannah Thear ran her a first 1,500m of the season in 5:20.11.

There were PBs too for U13s Orla Fawcet (5:24.90) and Richard Slade (5:32.80) and U15 Amy Fawcett (5:26.40).

There was success in the 800m as U13 Will Perkin set a new PB of 2:20.17 and Rohan Montgomery (2:36.85), David Willcox (2:38.22) Katie Bench (2:38.98) and Claire Buttivant (2:45.10) all set season’s bests. Freddie Burrell clocked 2:41.95 on his debut.
