Winfield: 'Home form the key'

DAVE Winfield has called on Wycombe to turn Adams Park into an unhappy hunting ground for the League One big guns this season.

The 23-year-old centre-back and his Blues team-mates are relishing the chance to take on the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Preston in their own backyard this season.

But the 6ft 3ins commanding defender believes the key to Wycombe's season will be picking up points a lot closer to home.

They only won three of their opening nine home games in League Two last season and only won six of their 23 home games the last time they were in League One in 2009/10.

Winfield said: "We know we are going to some good clubs but the key this year is to make Wycombe a fortress for us.

"Big teams will come to us and try and break us down and it is important that we pick up points at home this year. We haven't done that too well of late and it is key."
