WYCOMBE boss Gary Waddock admits he might have to resist the temptation to start striker Matt McClure tomorrow.

The 20-year-old fired a hat-trick in their Berks and Bucks Cup semi-final win over Hungerford on Tuesday night as he continues his recovery from a broken ankle.

McClure admitted after the game that he is not '100 per cent match-sharp' and Waddock is wary of throwing the youngster into the starting line-up against Hartlepool on Saturday.

He said: “I rate him very highly and he knows that but, through his own admission, he said he is not 100 per cent match fit. After the injury he has had we have to make sure it is right when we put him in.

“He got a hat-trick in the cup which is slightly different to a league game. The biggest thing is to make sure we don't push him back too quickly, even though we are in the situation we are in. Matty's career and his development is the most important thing.”
