DELIGHTED Blues boss Gary Waddock said his entire side deserve praise after their weekend thrashing of Hartlepool.

The spotlight shone brighly on new loan signings Paul Hayes and Gary Doherty after the Charlton pair netted in the 5-0 victory.

It was a win that matched Wycombe's highest-ever league victory and lifted the relegation doom at Adams Park.

But regulars like Marvin McCoy and Stuart Lewis also excelled in a rousing performance from Waddock's side.

He said: “The new lads have given everybody a lift and you saw today the quality they brought to the group as well. It was a fantastic all-round team performance by every member of that group.

“With a performance like that we will gain confidence and belief. Sometimes it does take time for them to settle in and gel but if you have good players coming in to your group then, more often than not, you get good performances.

“The other players also stepped up to the mark. If they show the same commitment as they showed today then we will give ourselves a chance. There is enough games and enough points left.

“They got the result with hard-work and effort and that is the only way you can do it. You have to dig deep at times and we did that today.”

Waddock said the impressive weekend win was the best in his time at the club and said he saw signs they can manage to escape the drop.

He said: “It has to be (the best ever) because of the situation we are in and the players needed to respond and they certainly did that. The fans deserve that because it has been a difficult season. With the signings we have made this week there are signs we are going to give it a right go.”
