A HOME loss to play-off rivals Northwood has left Beaconsfield looking anxiously over their shoulder in the top five.
The Woods took the lead early on through Romaine Walker’s penalty after Spencer Bellotti had been pushed over in the box.
They then extended their lead early in the second half when Bellotti nodded in after Beaconsfield failed to clear a free kick before top scorer Olly Hawkins put the Woods three up with 15minutes to go.
Anthony Barnard’s neat lobbed finish was a mere consolation for Beaconsfield as they had to settle for defeat.
Although the game was played on an uneven and unpredictable pitch, Walton was upset that his team were unable to fashion more goal scoring opportunities.
"We didn’t really threaten in front of goal until the last 20 minutes and by then it was near enough all over," he said. "That isn’t good enough."
Walton was also unhappy to have given away what he felt was a silly penalty for Northwood’s opening goal after Anthony Page inexplicably shoved Bellotti in the back,
"The penalty was a bad one to give away. He’s nudged him in the back. We started off the game quite evenly but that gave them a lift and changed the game."
The loss leaves Beaconsfield in 5th place, only two points within the playoff positions with just two games to go.
