CHALFONT St Peter threw a spanner in Slough's automatic promotion hopes with an excellent point at Holloways Park.

A draw at the Rebels shows just how far Danny Edwards' side have come in their first Evo-Stik Division One Central campaign with a patched-up side competing well for long periods.

Slough started brightly with Stuart Swift firing wide after neat build-up play from striker Danny Burnell but Chalfont traded blows with their hosts with the returning Daniel Hughes shooting over from a decent position.

And it was the visitors who took the lead on 19 minutes when Jerome Okimo powered down the left-hand side and slid a superb ball across the box for Terrell Lewis to tap in for the Saints.

Slough came out fighting in the second-half with Nathan Bowden-Haase squeezing a shot past the post and Burnell producing a fine save from Mark Oliver in the Chalfont goal.

They got their reward on 65 minutes when Sean Sonner headed in a teasing Steve Sinclair cross to level.

Chalfont were far from hanging on with Hughes sending a shot inches wide of the post before the Saints dug in to see the game out and earn a deserved draw.
