BYRON Walton has challenged his strikers to step up and fill the hole set to be left by Adam Bernard as he swaps non-league football for the bright lights of the theatre.

The 22-year-old singer, who has hit five goals already this season, is set for a role in musical Thriller Live from November.

After reaching the boot-camp stage of the X-Factor last year, he will miss a number of games but Beaconsfield SYCOB boss Walton is confident his boots can be filled.

He said: ““Adam will be going away in November, we will make the best use of him while we have got him. He has been scoring quite a few goals for us and the longer we can keep him involved the better.

“We don’t really know yet how long he will be gone for but it will depend on how well he does in the show while he is away. Initially it’s a month but he might actually be based up in London for some of the show so that would mean he would be able to play for us anyway.”

Reinforcements have already been drafted in with the signing of Denilson Vicente from Aylesbury and he made an instant impact as he scored the winning goal on his debut against Bedfont.

“Obviously Denilson scored today and he will give us a bit of competition up there with having four strikers,” added Walton. “I’m sure they will all push themselves on now and score quite a few goals between them. I would expect all of my forwards to make double figures by the end of the season.”
