BYRON Walton believes Beaconsfield SYCOB can continue to upset the odds in Monday’s Evo-Stik Division One Central play-off final.

The Rams came back from going a goal down in extra-time to beat play-off favourites Slough Town 2-1 at Holloways Park last night.

After the win, Walton insisted his players had proven they can cut it with the big boys and hailed the display against Slough as their best of 2012 so far.

“It’s probably the best we’ve played this side of Christmas,” said the Rams boss. “We knew we’d have to play well but we’ve got a lot of players who can turn it on in the big games.

The Rams must now see off Bedworth United, who finished nine points ahead of them in the league table, to seal a place in the Premier Division next season.

But after their extra-time heroics against the Rebels, Walton says his side is brimming with confidence ahead of the final on Monday.

He said: “Now there are two teams in the final that many would’ve expected to have been in a relegation battle at the start of the season. Bedworth are similar to us, they’ve got little money and a young manager who is ever so keen.

“We’re only 90 minutes away from the Premier. Last year we should’ve been relegated so it just shows what a difference a year makes. This game will give them a lot of confidence and we showed a lot of spirit.”
