Amersham & Chiltern are hoping former England international Tom May can inspire them to pull away from the National Three London & SE danger zone.

Chiltern are currently rock bottom of the table after being unable to build on last week's first win of the season on Saturday when they lost 35-15 at Guernsey Raiders .

But they are hoping a training session with former Newcastle and Northampton star May will give them the tools needed to pull off a great escape.

May, who is now retired but won two England caps in his 2009 heyday, works at Maximuscle with Chiltern player Johnny Hughes, who has been tapping him up to pass on his wealth of experience.

Chiltern head coach Richie Williams said: “We've been looking at bringing in some guest coaches in the two or three weeks leading up to Christmas to help us out of the tight situation we're in, and Johnny is quite friendly with Tom through their work together.

“We're hoping he will come down and deliver a few sessions, which will something different for th lads, and hopefully some of what Tom has to tell them will rub off on them. At the moment, every little helps really.”
