BEACONSFIELD defeated High Wycombe to win the David Shuttle U10 six-a-side annual cricket tournament at Winchmore Hill this week.

The destination of the trophy was in doubt right until the final over but it was Beaconsfield who edged it, in part due to the fine efforts of player of the final, Ben Smith, whose fine fielding yielded an excellent run out.

The final was the culmination of a busy day which saw 14 teams battling it out as the Winchmore Hill ground was divided into four mini pitches.

The hosts were defeated in the semi-finals, as were Chalfont St Giles, but it was Beaconsfield who took the top prize, and were awarded the trophy by Winchmore chairman Stuart Banham.
