Popular TV producer and screen writer Phil Redmond is the latest celebrity to call for the HS2 project to be scrapped.
As a regular traveller between Liverpool and London for 30 years, he says it's more important to spend our money on infrastructure in the cities rather then getting everyone to London quicker.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast TV he said the project made a mockery of the government's 'austerity cuts'.
“It's a lot of money to spend on getting to London 12 minutes earlier”.
