A 12-year-old girl has been attacked by a stranger in Beaconsfield.

Police have launched a manhunt after the attack, which happened just after 8am yesterday morning (October 13).

The girl was walking along Minerva Way towards Beaconsfield town centre.

She went to assist a man in woodland near to Wilton Park and was then physically assaulted by the man.

The girl was left needing hospital treatment and has been kept in for overnight observation.

She was wearing a black waterproof coat with a fur-lined hood, with black skirt and black tights and carrying a white patent patchwork bag with a gold logo.

The offender is a white man, 5 ft 9ins, normal build carrying slight weight, wearing all black clothing. He had a bald head.

Investigating Officer, Det Insp, Jason Simpson of Force CID, said: “We are appealing for information in connection with this assault.

“If anyone has seen a man matching the description in the vicinity of Wilton Park then please do get in touch.

“We are also asking for anyone who saw a girl matching the description in Minerva Way to also come forward.

“At this stage we are not linking this investigation to any other however we are keeping an open mind.

“If you do have information please call the Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101, quoting the reference 562 13/10/16.

Supt Yvette Hitch LPA Commander for Chiltern and South Bucks, said: “We are increasing patrols in the area in light of this worrying incident in which a girl has been assaulted.

“We are working with local schools at this time to provide support to them, and there will be reassurance patrols at schools in the area from tomorrow morning.

“I would advise anyone with concerns to speak to one of my neighbourhood officers or call 101."
