Pokemon Go, a new augmented reality game, was unleashed in Buckinghamshire and the rest of the UK just weeks ago and has already become the most downloaded app in the UK.
The free-to-play game provides an augmented reality experience by using the users smartphones, camera and GPS location to provide a live view of the world, with Pokemon superimposed.
The main aim of the game is to catch the animated animals that can pop up along the way in any location.
However, there have been a number of app-related injuries reported while people have been walking around, playing the game, and paying more attention to the game than their surroundings
Meanwhile, there have been reports that criminal opportunists have used 'lures' - a device to attract Pokemon - to target users in order to rob them of their valuables.
With no doubt, Pokemon Go has become a monster in the mobile world, but remember to always be aware of your surroundings while you ‘catch ‘em all’.
This report was prepared by the journalism students of the University of Buckingham as part of a joint venture with getbucks.
