With exactly a month to go before Christmas, Chesham's festively named mayor, Councillor Noel Brown, switched on the town's Christmas lights.
Also in attendance were Mimi Harker OBE, the chair of Chiltern District Council, Chesham's town crier Jane Todd and Paralympic Gold medallists Andy Lewis and Clare Cunningham.
The Paralympians were there on behalf of Arctic One, the mayor's chosen charity, which helps disabled and able bodied people get involved in sports from its Chesham base.
The town was open until late with big discounts and there was a festival atmosphere with a wide variety of food, from mince pies to paella, and children's fairground rides.
Music and entertainments was provided on stage by Chiltern Music Therapy, Chesham Bois Catholic Players and the children of Elmtree School.
Stars of The Elgiva's pantomime, Beauty and the Beast were also there, as was Santa Claus who parked his sleigh under the Clock Tower.
