A celebrity team helped to raise £1000 for the Royal Brompton Hospital at a fundraiser for the Alexander Jansons Foundation.
Ex-Birds of a Feather actor Pauline Quirke and Penn’s favourite baker Mary Berry were the special guests at a cake off in Penn on Wednesday November 23, with all money raised going directly to further research into Myocarditis.
Andy Jansons started the foundation after the death of his son Alexander from Myocarditis when he was 18-years-old and has pledged a minimum of £80,000 a year into research.
Patricia Dean, one of the organisers, said: “Pauline said Sams cake won because it was moist nutty and her icing had a delicious orangery kind of flavour.
“People had really gone to a lot of effort in both taste and presentation.
“The day was a great success both in spreading awareness of myocarditis and raising funds to further research.”
