A CHARITY shop in Gerrards Cross had a touch of glamour added to it this week when a Miss England contestant helped out there.
Mai Arwas, 19, worked in Oxfam in Packhorse Road as part of her campaign to be crowned Miss England.
Miss Arwas, who is originally from Israel and has lived in Bucks for the past five years, was crowned Miss Buckinghamshire 2010 in the United Kingdom Galaxy pageant.
In order to be crowned Miss England and win the contest, she had to prove that she helps out in the community and because of this she has started volunteering at Oxfam.
She said: "I was applying for modelling auditions on the internet and came across the beauty pageant, and applied for it.
"A few weeks later I got an email saying that I had got in and that my title is Miss Buckinghamshire Galaxy 2010, which was a bit of a shock for me.
"Now I need to volunteer to do many different things. I have volunteered for Oxfam, and will do that a few more times.
"I will also be going to other places as well, such as Gerrards Cross fire station and police station, Wexham Park Hospital and trying to do as much as I can I while I am there."
Miss Arwas is studying fashion at St Martin's university in London and enjoys dancing, singing and a variety of sports.
