A drug producer from Hazlemere has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.

Paul Read, 49, of Farndale Gardens, pleaded guilty at Aylesbury Crown Court on Thursday November 17 to one count of producing a class B drug, namely cannabis.

Read was arrested after Thames Valley Police officers executed a warrant at his property on 17 September, 2015 under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

They found that cannabis was being produced at the property. Read was charged on May 26.

Investigating officer PC Rob Howell of the Hazlemere Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This conviction and prison sentence shows the seriousness with which drug offences are treated.

“We will not tolerate drug production in the Thames Valley, and where necessary, will carry out warrants in order to make arrests.

“Read will now be spending 12 months in prison as a consequence of his actions, and this should serve as a warning to others who are involved in the production of drugs.”
