Hundreds of cake fans descended on Gerrards Cross as the bookshop on Packhorse Road celebrated its 10th birthday with a visit from Mary Berry.

350 people, including two who came all the way from Northern Ireland, were over the moon to welcome Bucks' favourite baker yesterday (Sunday November 27) as she signed copies of her new book.

A queue started forming at 8am, three hours before the TV star was due to arrive, and a bespoke cake by local baker by Yolande Francine was made for the occasion.

A spokesperson for the Chorleywood and Gerrards Cross Bookshops said: "Mary Berry was as charming in person as she is on screen.

"She greeted everyone as if they were an old friend and was particularly interested in the younger members of the queue and what they were going to bake and create from their new books.

"With book sales through the roof and such wonderful feedback from all of those who attended, both the Gerrards Cross and Chorleywood Bookshops were thrilled to host such an amazing woman, chef and national treasure."
