GARDENERS are urged to be vigilant after stolen metal taps from allotments led to a flood.
Four brass taps were discovered missing from the water points at a plot of allotments in Seer Green, on Wednesday, (25) at around 12pm.
Chairman of Seer Green Allotments Association, Barry Richardson said: "Whoever stole the metals taps left water gushing out all over the place.
"Luckily it wasn't like this for too long because someone spotted it and managed to cut off the water supply. The cost of replacing four brass taps, not counting labour costs is £56.00 so it's not cheap."
Clerk, Liz Bates, said: "We have also heard reports of lead being stolen from the gardens in Chalfont St Giles so there is obviously someone on the prowl for metal parts.
"We don't often get a lot of trouble but from time to time we get a few incidents like this."
To report similar incidents call the Seer Green Neighbourhood police team on 0845 850 5505.
