An aeronautical engineering student who grew up in Denham and attended Dr Challoner's Girls School has thanked GetBucks readers for helping her triumph in the final of Loughborough University's Student Placement Awards on Thursday (June 16).

Laura Webber was announced as the winner of the competition after spending a year working as an aerodynamicist with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team on placement.

The awards ceremony was held on Thursday night (June 16) following a public vote that ended on Tuesday (June 14).

After the announcement, Laura tweeted to Get Bucks readers: "One very proud winner! Thank you so much for all your support."

As part of her Masters Degree in Aeronautical Engineering at Loughborough University, Laura joined the Aerodynamics department at MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, and established herself as a valuable part of the front of car development group.

As well as working on vehicle development, Laura also spent time in the Race Support Room, supporting trackside activities. She made a significant contribution to the 2015 World Championship winning car - the Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid.

Laura will take up a permanent role with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team after graduation.
