Chalfont St Peter goes football crazy

Chalfont St Peter went into a football frenzy yesterday for the Village Hall pub's five-a-side tournament.

Chalfont St Peter went into a football frenzy yesterday for the Village Hall pub's five-a-side tournament.

The event was held as part of the pub's fun day which also included a number of stalls, a barbecue and a bouncy castle.

Unfortunately the Advertiser's team failed to live up to expectations, losing all but one of their four opening games and going out in the first round group stage.

Team member Greg Burns said: "I'm very proud of the lads. They didn't let a lack of basic footballing skill spoil their day, and despite appalling fitness levels in some members of the team, their effort could not be faulted.
"We'll be back next time for more and will be much improved."

For a full report on the event, see Thursday's Advertiser.
