A popular children’s television programme has been inspiring Bucks pupils to recycle to celebrate National Recycle Week.

CBeebies star Boj toured 12 school in Bucks during the week, which ran from June 22 to 28, and inspired the children to get ‘Boj-ing.’

Boj loves to reuse and recycle and he showed children how to think ‘outside of the box’, be resourceful and most importantly - have expressive messy fun.

One of the schools Boj visited was Great Missenden CofE Pre-School in Church Street.

The pupils collected recycled boxes, toilet rolls, rubber bands and bottles and got “Boj-ing” by transforming them into shakers, microphones and shoebox guitars, all adorned with colourful Boj stickers, before singing along to music from the show.

There were also activity sheets with a recycling theme to complete, a colouring in sheet and an episode of the show to watch where Boj fixes his friend Denzel’s guitar using everyday objects, much like the children did on the day.

Great Missenden CofE Preschool co-ordinator Ceryl Taylor said: “Boj is a great role model for children to learn about being resourceful, creative and just about being a really good friend!”
