A BUSINESSMAN is to take on a 900-mile bike ride in memory of a school friend.
Graham Nye, 43, who used to live in Chalfont St Giles and now runs an IT business in Gerrards Cross, will cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats at the end of this month to raise money in memory of Terry Kemp, whom he met while they were both pupils at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School in Amersham.
Mr Kemp died at the end of last year following a series of strokes.
Mr Nye said: “I wanted to do something pro-active, so I spoke to Terry’s widow, Emma, and decided on this.
“I’ve been in training for the past few months, and I’m aiming to do 125 miles a day for seven days.”
As part of his preparation, Mr Kemp rode from Land’s End to his home in Rickmansworth last week, which took him two days.
He said: “The weather was awful, but it was good training, and should have me fully prepared for the ride.”
