Underwhelmed by the British summer? In need of something warming? GREG BURNS previews this year's Chilli Festival

NOW in its third year, the Chilli Festival at Waddesdon Manor is bigger and better than ever this weekend. Visitors will find everything for the chilli fanatic or intrepid chilli novice, including delicious jams, chutneys, relishes and sauces, alongside ice-cream, chocolates, honey and fudge.

For those who want to have a go at growing their own, there is a great range of unique chilli plants from small producers around the country, and beautiful, eye-catching and unusual dried chilli arrangements.

In the café, choose from a tempting range of homemade treats: chilli cup cakes, sun-dried tomato scones with chilli jelly and chilli pepper quiche, all washed down with old-fashioned homemade lemonade.

There will be cooking demonstrations and recipe cards to take away, homemade burgers and sausages and a prize draw with a chance to win a chilli hamper full of products from the stall holders.

Back by popular demand, there will be live music performances at 11.15am and 2.30pm by Pablo Mariachi el Mexicano, with the vibrant sound of traditional Mexican music and costume.
